PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC and OL Reign played to a scoreless draw at Providence Park on Friday night. Portland has registered back-to-back clean sheets to start the 2022 regular season. Facing a quick turnaround, Portland continues the stretch of home matches, playing host to the Washington Spirit on May 18 and the Houston Dash on May 21.
Shutout Streak
Thorns FC earned a second clean sheet to start the 2022 season. Dating back to the end of the 2021 regular season, Thorns FC have not conceded a goal in 360 consecutive minutes, recording four straight shutouts. Portland has not surrendered a goal in the run of play in its last six regular season games, conceding just one goal during that stretch – a penalty kick in the 86th minute against OL Reign on Oct. 13, 2021. The last time they allowed a goal in the run of play was on Oct. 6, 2021 against Houston.
Strong Start to the Season
Portland has started its season with two shutouts for the first time in club history. It is also the sixth time Thorns FC have registered consecutive home shutouts in the team’s history. Through the first three weeks of the season, Thorns FC are one of two teams in the NWSL that has not conceded a goal.
Rocky’s 100th
Rocky Rodríguez made her 100th career NWSL appearance. She is the 56th player to reach that milestone and the ninth international NWSL player to hit 100 appearances. She is the sixth current Thorns FC player to reach this milestone: Crystal Dunn, Meghan Klingenberg, Emily Menges, Christine Sinclair and Becky Sauerbrunn.
