West Ham are showing a strong interest in Strasbourg striker Habib Diallo who is also on the wanted list of Premier League rivals Brighton, reports have claimed.
The Hammers will be dealing with the disappointment of losing to Frankfurt on Thursday night. The European dream came to an end with a 3-1 aggregated defeat. But it is sure to make boss David Moyes even more determined to bounce back stronger.
Speaking after the 1-0 loss in Frankfurt Moyes said he was proud of his players. He admitted that their chances of making the final came unstuck in the first leg when they conceded so early. Speaking after the first leg Moyes also suggested that a little extra quality was needed to play at that level.
It means the Scot is sure to strengthen his squad during the summer transfer window. He missed out on a number of signings in January and that could also have played its part.
A new striker is on the wanted list as he has yet to replace Sebastien Haller. And it would appear that Diallo is one option for him. That is according to RMC Sport who claim the Hammers are keen.
Diallo has caught the eye for Strasbourg in Ligue 1 this season. He has chipped in with 12 goals in 30 appearances to help his side to sixth place on the table. They are in the mix to qualify for Europe and Diallo has played key role.
RMC say that West Ham are not the only interested party though. Brighton have also been credited with an interest in the 26-year-old. The report claims that both clubs have stepped up their interest in recent weeks. ‘Concrete interest’ has been shown and offer could be forthcoming.
There is also interest from other clubs throughout Europe. Borussia Monchengladbach get a mention so Diallo will not be short of options.
Strasbourg will be keen to keep hold but know they will struggle. Most Ligue 1 clubs tend to cash in if they get big offers from the Premier League. He is under contract until the summer of 2025 though so will not come cheap.
Strasbourg will be able to…
