Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku is set to remain at Stamford Bridge until at least the end of the season.

Bayern Munich and Manchester United displayed interest in sealing a winter move for the 27-year-old, who arrived at Stamford Bridge back in June 2023 when he joined from RB Leipzig in a £53million deal.

However, both clubs have since given up hope of signing him this month after deciding that Chelsea’s demands were way too high.

United had initially enquired about the possibility of a loan deal.

Nkunku has scored 16 goals in 43 first-team games for the Blues, including 13 in 29 under Enzo Maresca this season.

However, many of his appearances have come as a substitute and he has only started three Premier League matches this term.

Nkunku has struggled to dislodge Nicolas Jackson as Chelsea’s lead frontman, while Cole Palmer‘s remarkable form has limited his game time in attacking midfield.

Mail Sport has previously reported how Nkunku has grown frustrated at his lack of minutes.

He is said to be determined not to lose his spot in the France national team, for whom he has won 14 caps to date, scoring one goal.
