No. 10 Duke Hosts Longwood Tuesday


DURHAM, N.C. – No. 10 Duke men’s soccer (8-2-4) opens the final week of regular season competition on Tuesday evening at Koskinen Stadium, hosting Longwood (4-8-2). Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ACCNX.
 
Tuesday’s contest is the Blue Devils’ final bark-at-the-park match. Fans can bring their four-legged friends by completing the attached release form. Parking will be in the Science Drive Garage, which will open two hours before the match begins.
 
MATCHUP NOTES

  • Duke and Longwood meet for the second time in program history on Tuesday. The Blue Devils won the only meeting between the two sides in 2005, 3-1, at Koskinen Stadium.

 
BY THE NUMBERS
14 – Goals scored against Averett at Koskinen Stadium tied a program record for most goals scored in a single contest.
10 – Duke has won 10-plus contests in 10 of the 16 completed seasons under Kerr.
7 – Seven different Blue Devils registered their first career goals in 2024, including five against Averett.
3 – Graduate Adam Luckhurst tallied three goals against Averett netting his first career hat trick in his first game in Koskinen Stadium.  

FIRST TOUCH

  • Backed by strong defending and goalkeeping play down the stretch, Duke extended its unbeaten streak to eight matches on Friday evening in Blacksburg, Virginia, defeating Virginia Tech, 1-0, for its fourth consecutive clean sheet. 
  • The Blue Devils continue to produce goal-scoring chances in the second half of matches this season, as Drew Kerr netted the game-winner against Virginia Tech in the 53rd minute. Kerr’s tally improves Duke’s total in the second half to outscoring opponents 36-9.
  • The three points secured on the road Friday conclude the Blue Devils’ regular season road slate. Duke finished the 2024 regular season unbeaten away from Koskinen Stadium, posting a 5-0-2 record.

 
ACC TABLE IS CROWDED

  • Heading into the final weekend of ACC play, the league standings are crowded as eight teams are separated by two points. Duke enters the final weekend of the ACC play, tied for fourth place with Stanford.
  • With Stanford and Duke drawing in California earlier this season, the Cardinal hold the tiebreaker with the Blue Devils, scoring 10 goals in league play compared to Duke’s nine.
