FAYETTEVILLE, AR – The No. 23 Gamecocks (5-1-4, 2-1-0) suffered their first loss of the season Sunday, falling 2-0 against the No. 2 ranked Arkansas Razorbacks (9-0-1, 4-0-0).

The Razorbacks dominated possession throughout the first 45 minutes, taking their first of four corners in the half just four minutes into play. South Carolina responded with one of their own in the 13th minute but could not connect.

Arkansas got on the board in the 20th minute, with Ava Tankersley slinging it into the top right corner of the net to put the Razorbacks up 1-0. Seven minutes later, Arkansas’ Kiley Dulaney increased the lead to two on a set piece from Tankersley.

Despite being down 2-0 coming into the second half, South Carolina came back onto the field swinging with fifth-year Cat Barry taking a shot just two minutes in, but was met by a block from a Razorback defender. The Gamecocks took five more shots in addition to a second corner, but were unable to find the back of the net.

Junior keeper Tina Tsaousis made four saves on the day, and fifth-year Taylor Fox made one.

The Gamecocks defense held the Razorbacks to two goals, their second-lowest in a game this season.
