NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt soccer returns to the pitch on Thursday night hosting No. 2/1 Arkansas at 7 p.m. at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex. The match can be seen on SEC Network+.
Vanderbilt (5-1-3, 0-1-1) suffered its first loss of the 2024 campaign on Sunday afternoon in a 1-0 decision against Georgia. The Dores had nine opportunities to score but Bulldogs’ keeper Jordan Brown jumped in front of every attempt to register nine saves throughout the afternoon. The Commodores had 12 corner kicks, the most given up by Georgia this season and tied for the most earned by the Dores this year. Keeper Kate Devine made her first start of the season and tallied four saves, sliding into seventh all-time in program history.
Arkansas (7-0-1, 2-0) is coming off an 8-2 victory over Missouri on Sunday. The Razorbacks’ six-goal victory tied the program’s largest over an SEC opponent. Arkansas shutout Missouri in the opening frame, taking a 6-0 lead at half, the most goals in a half this season. Ava Tankersley has the fourth-most points per game in the nation (2.50). The Razorbacks lead the country in points per game (17.13), assists per game (6.13), scoring offense (5.50) and goal differential (37).
Thursday’s meeting will be the 38th all-time in a series in which Vandy leads 19-15-4 overall. The last matchup between the squads came in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals of 2022 when Vandy advanced on penalty kicks. The last regular season meeting came earlier that season in Fayetteville, with Arkansas taking a 3-0 shutout over the Dores.
