Erling Haaland matches Cristiano Ronaldo goal record in Arsenal draw

Erling Haaland matched Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the fewest games needed to score 100 goals for one club with his strike in Manchester City’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

Haaland reached 99 goals in 103 games and had the chance to claim the record for his own, only to draw a blank in his 104th appearance for the club in the 0-0 draw with Inter in midweek.

Needing to find the net in his 105th outing to tie Ronaldo’s record, Haaland opened the scoring at the Etihad against Arsenal, reaching a century of goals as fast as Ronaldo during his time with Real Madrid.

Haaland also becomes the 19th player to ever reach 100 goals for City. Kevin De Bruyne was the last to reach the landmark in April.

The strike against Arsenal also saw Haaland break his own scoring feat. It took his tally for the Premier League season to ten goals in just five games – never before has anybody reached double figures so quickly.

Haaland’s debut season in England began with ten goals in six matches, tying the record previously held by Micky Quinn from the 1992/93 season.
