Cooper Named WCC Defensive Player of the Week

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State senior goalkeeper Nadia Cooper was named the West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the Conference announced Tuesday afternoon. Cooper posted a shutout in a scoreless draw at No. 7 Utah State, earning her second Conference weekly honor this season and fourth career conference weekly honor.

Cooper earned her third cleansheet of the year with five saves in the match, becoming the first goalkeeper to hold the top-10 Aggies scoreless this season. The shutout marked Cooper’s second in the last three matches and 17th career shutout, one shy of fourth in WSU goalkeeping history.

The draw also marked the first WSU shutout against a top-10 opponent since Cooper’s freshman season during a scoreless draw with then-No. 5 Southern California, Oct. 21, 2021, in Pullman.

Washington State returns to the pitch Saturday, Sept. 28 at home, hosting the San Diego Toreros in WSU’s inaugural WCC match as an affiliate member. Kickoff for Saturday’s match is scheduled for 7 p.m. for Vamos Pumas Latino/a/x Night with coverage on ESPN+.
