IRVING, Texas – Kierra Blundell from Sun Devil Soccer has been named this week’s Big 12 Co-Freshman of the Week. She becomes the first Sun Devil to receive a weekly award this season.
Blundell helped ASU record two wins last week by scoring three goals and adding one assist. She recorded the 14th hat trick in ASU history, and the fourth by a freshman, in a 3-0 win over Penn. It was the first hat trick by a Sun Devil since the 2022 season. She became the fifth ASU player with a multi-goal game this season, a new program record. Blundell also assisted on a goal in the win over Grambling, and she now has a point in three straight games.

On the season, Blundell leads ASU with five goals and 13 points. Her five goals are tied for third-most in the Big 12, and she is tied for second in the conference in points. She has recorded a point in five of the team’s six games this season.
Blundell shared this week’s freshman award with Cincinnati’s Rylee Felton. In addition, Peyton Parsons from Texas Tech earned the offensive award, Jada Silvest of UCF won the defensive award, and Oklahoma State’s Grace Gordon received the goalkeeper honor.
