Panthers Meet Cal State Fullerton to Continue California Road Journey


PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh women’s Soccer team remains in California as they prepare to face off to the Cal State Fullerton Titans, Sunday evening. The matchup is slated for a 5 p.m. EST start.

  • Sunday’s matchup will be the first time the two programs will meet in program history.

SCOUTING THE TITANS

  • The Cal State Fullerton Titans were defeated 1-0 on the road on Thursday against Cal.
  • The Titans defense dealt with the Cal offense for almost the entire game but one defensive breakdown was the difference.
  • The Cal Golden Bears put up the only goal of the afternoon in the 80th minute.
  • For the game, the Titans were outshot 17-6 and 10-3 shots on goal.

LAST TIME OUT

  • The Panthers secured their second non-conference win in a row Thursday afternoon by defeating the Loyola Marymount Lions in a 3-0 victory.
  • Freshman Rylee Keeley posted Pitt’s first goal of the afternoon off of a cross from Sarah Schupanksy. This is Keeley’s first career goal.
  • Samiah Phiri hung around the LMU defense and forced an error that led to an easy goal past the Lions’ keeper.
  • Schupanksy did what she does best and provided another assist off of a corner kick. Freshman Emily Graeca became the second, first-time scored in the match for Pitt and she found a way to put it into the back of the net to extend the lead to three.
  • Junior Ellie Breech made three second half saves to preserve a shutout.

UP NEXT

The Panthers will return back to Pittsburgh Thursday, Sept. 5 to play host to Dartmouth. This match is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
