Washington State travels to familiar foe Stanford for a Sunday afternoon clash with the No. 2 Cardinal at Cagan Stadium, Sept. 1, in Stanford, Calif. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. PT (4 p.m. ET)with streaming coverage on ACCNX (ESPN+).

Wazzu and Stanford formerly competed as conference members in the Pac-12  with 32 all-time meetings. The Cardinal boast a 27-3-2 record against the Cougs with WSU’s last result a 1-1 draw against reigning national champs and No. 1 Stanford in Pullman, October 28, 2018. Wazzu has lost the last four meetings.

Head Coach Todd Shulenberger earned his 100th win last Sunday, Aug. 25, with a 2-1 win against Idaho. Shulenberger, in his 10th season at the helm of the Cougar soccer program, boasts a

100-55-23 record. Shulenberger became the 140th active head coach to reach 100 career wins and the 44th to hit the century mark at a single school.

Last season against then-No. 2 Stanford, the Cougars fell 0-1 at Lower Soccer Field in Pullman, Wash., Sept. 22, 2023. The last Cougar goal against the Card came as an own goal at Stanford.

Against the Atlantic Coast Conference, WSU holds a 21-52-7 record with the majority of the matches (65) coming against Cal and Stanford as former conference members. Against the previous iteration of the ACC, the Cougs were 6-8-1.

Cougar soccer was named No. 21 on SoccerWire.com’s list of the Top 50 most successful women’s soccer programs in the country over the last five years.

Last time on the pitch the Cougs defeated Idaho 2-1 in a border battle, Sunday. Aug. 25 to give Shulenberger his 100th victory.  The Cougs finished the weekend 2-0 with goals from five different scorers – Burton, Campbell, Duckett Kotschau, and Studer.

With five saves in the win over Montana, Nadia Cooper moved to sixth in Cougar goalkeeping saves history with 168 career saves. Cooper picked up her 28th career win with Sunday’s win over Idaho (5th at WSU) and surpassed 5,000 minutes in goal. The cleansheet against the Griz gave Cooper her 15th career shutout (5th at WSU).

True freshman Kendall Campbell scored her first collegiate goal, netting the second goal in a 3-0 win over Montana in the home opener, Aug. 22….
