ANNAPOLIS, MD – Kelsey Smith dribbled through a sea of Navy defenders and scored the go-ahead goal in the 73rd minute to lead Maryland women’s soccer (2-1-2) to a 1-0 victory against Navy (3-3) at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility on Aug. 29.
The goal was the redshirt sophomore forward’s second of the season. She scored her first against Stony Brook on Aug. 18.

Navy outshot Maryland 12-7. However, the Terps were more efficient with their opportunities, which was evident as both teams had two shots on goal.
Senior goalkeeper Liz Beardsley recorded her second shutout of the season and eighth as a Terp. She finished with two saves. Through five games this season, Beardsley has made 19 saves, leading the Big Ten Conference.
