D.C. United, Major League Soccer, and Continental Tire Collaborate on 11th Annual Kick Childhood Cancer Campaign

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This September, D.C. United, Major League Soccer (MLS), and Continental Tire are teaming up during Childhood Cancer Awareness month for the 11th annual “Kick Childhood Cancer” (KCC) campaign to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research and treatment.

As part of the campaign, D.C. United will offer complimentary tickets and exclusive experiences to cancer patients and their families for the match against the Columbus Crew on Saturday, September 28 at Audi Field. D.C. United will also activate with a series of special initiatives in conjunction with Kick Childhood Cancer to raise awareness and support local pediatric hospitals and organizations. Additionally, members of D.C. United’s First Team will pay a special visit to Inova L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital in Fairfax, VA, the only full-service children’s hospital devoted to the healthcare of infants, children and adolescents in the Northern Virginia area.

Throughout the month, Continental Tire has committed to donating $50,000 to fund pediatric cancer research. Fans are encouraged to support the campaign by sharing a message of hope for children and families in the fight against cancer using #KickChildhoodCancer. The Kick Childhood Cancer campaign will benefit Children’s Oncology Group (COG), the world’s largest organization devoted exclusively to childhood and adolescent cancer research, uniting more than 10,000 experts in childhood cancer at more than 200 leading children’s hospitals around the world. The Kick Childhood Cancer campaign has enabled COG to strengthen research efforts across the entire spectrum of pediatric cancers, including Project: EveryChild – a unique project aiming to capture the biology and outcome data of every child diagnosed with cancer.
