PITTSBURGH – Men’s Soccer’s Albert Thorsen and Women’s Soccer’s Sarah Schupansky were named this week’s PNC Achievers of the Week.
Sophomore forward Albert Thorsen opened the 2024 campaign in stellar fashion, recording a goal and an assist in the Pitt’s’ 2-0 upset victory over No. 16 Georgetown. Thorsen then followed up his performance with a goal in Panthers’ 2-0 win over Mercyhurst on Sunday. Through two matches, Thorsen has scored, or assisted, on three of Pitt’s four goals this season. A 2023 ACC All-Freshman selection, Thorsen currently leads the Panthers with five points to open the year.
Senior Sarah Schupansky started in both games played this week – totaling 167 minutes on the pitch. She registered six shots with four on goal against Buffalo in the home opener. In the blowout against Bucknell, Schupansky not only posted the game-winning goal, but she also notched six points as she clocked in two goals and two assists on the day. Her efforts helped the Panthers top the Bison 5-1 on Sunday afternoon.
