Federico Chiesa potential destinations – ranked

Federico Chiesa

Following the arrival of new manager Thiago Motta at Juventus, it seems that former star man Federico Chiesa is now surplus to requirements in Turin.

Amazingly, that means that the Italy international could be available for as little as €20m this summer.

So, who should take up this bargain and sign Chiesa?

AS Roma have previously snapped up an unwanted Juventus forward to great effect, securing the services of the incredibly talented Paulo Dybala a few years ago.

Repeating the trick this summer would sense then, right?

Well, yes it would. And according to reports Roma have already attempted to make a €20m move for Chiesa, only to be rebuffed.

Chelsea, as they usually are, have been one of the more active clubs in the transfer window thus far this summer – signing five players to date.

What perhaps none of the signings have had though is star quality. That’s exactly what Chiesa would bring.

The wide forward isn’t quite the age profile of player that the Blues have been heavily focused on signing during the Todd Boehly era however, something which may be a barrier for this deal.

Antonio Conte, Aurelio De Laurentiis

Considering the manner in which he plays the game, it’s pretty shocking that Chiesa has never played under Antonio Conte.

This summer, he may finally get the chance to.

Napoli are one of the many, many clubs monitoring the Italy international’s situation at Juventus.

If they can get a deal over the line, he’d be a perfect addition to Conte’s all-action system.

Speaking of managers under whom Chiesa would flourish, here’s Tottenham’s Ange Postecoglou.

The Italian would undoubtedly be a fantastic addition to Spurs’ attacking lineup, and perhaps provide them with a bit more end product than the likes of Dejan Kulusevski, Timo Werner, Richarlison and co. provided last season.

Would Chiesa be a definite starter at Arsenal?

Probably not.

However, considering his injury history, at this point that may be best.

Rotating in and out of the Gunners lineup, potentially coming in for the high leverage games and resting for the less important ones, would be a pretty perfect situation for Chiesa right now.

This move would make a lot of sense.
