Several Duke Soccer Alumnx to Compete in TST in Cary; Overbeck to Help Coach


DURHAM – Several Duke men’s and women’s soccer alumnx are competing this week in the TST Tournament, which features a pair of $1,000,000 winner-take-all championships at Wake Med Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. 
 
The event features 56 men’s and women’s teams and 118 matches over six days from June 5-10.  It will be aired live on TST7V7.com/live along with selected matches on ESPN+. 
 
On the women’s side, six Blue Devil alumnx are representing SoccerHead FC – Kat McDonald, Gilda Doria, Ashton Miller, Schuyler DeBree, Mollie Pathman and Mackenzie Pluck
 
Current Blue Devil assistant coach Carla Overbeck is serving as an assistant coach for the second straight year with the U.S. Women squad. 
 
The women’s tournament starts Thursday, June 7 with the group stage.  Soccerhead FC opens play at 10:15 a.m., against Tampa Bay Sun FC and then faces Burnley FC at 6:15 p.m.  The U.S. women take on Streetball FC Canada at 12 p.m., followed by Angel City at 7:30 p.m.
 
The knockout stage for the women will be June 9-10. 
 
On the men’s side, nine former Blue Devils are representing five different teams – Mike Grella (The CONCAFA Soccer Club), Robert Moewes (Zala), Cody Brinkman (Tobacco Road FC), Cedric Burke (Tobacco Road FC), Hassan Pinto (Tobacco Road FC), Jack Doran (Tobacco Road FC), Ryan Thompson (Tobacco Road FC), Jared Rist (Hoya Nation) and Mitchell Kupstas (Kingdom FC). 
 
Group stage for the men will be June 6-7 followed by the knockout stage from June 7-10.
