CHICAGO – Chicago Fire FC (2-8-4, 10 points) fell 3-1 to the Columbus Crew (5-2-6, 21 points) on Saturday night at Soldier Field.

Columbus forward Diego Rossi broke through in the 30th minute, collecting the ball on the right side before sending a shot toward goal that was saved by goalkeeper Chris Brady. The Fire were unable to clear the rebound and Rossi pounced, sending a shot into the netting at the far post. The visitors doubled their lead in the 55th minute when forward Mohamed Farsi sent a ball across the box, just over the Chicago defense, for forward Christian Ramirez to head home from close range.

Chicago cut the lead in half in the 85th minute when midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri sent a corner across the box. The ball was headed around before falling in front of forward Georgios Koutsias, who hit the ball back up into the air where defender Carlos Terán sent a header into the side netting. It marked Terán’s first goal of the season, and his fourth career goal for the Fire.

Columbus responded in the 88th minute when defender Maite Amundsen sent a pass into the box where forward Jacen Russell-Rowe was making a run. The forward took a touch to control the ball before finding the back of the net with his shot, scoring the final goal of the match.

NEXT MATCH: Chicago will travel to the Nation’s capital to face D.C. United on Saturday, May 25. The match is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT at Audi Field and will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass and transmitted locally via wlsam.com in English and WRTO 1200 AM in Spanish.
