A host of recognisable faces joined celebrations as Italian side Como secured promotion to Serie A.

Just five years ago the club were languishing in the fourth-tier of Italian football having recovered from bankruptcy, before undergoing one of the most remarkable resurgences in recent memory.

In 2022 World Cup-winning midfielder Cesc Fabregas arrived at the club on a free transfer from Monaco, playing the final season of his illustrious career at the club before becoming assistant manager and part-owner this season.

With Welshman Osian Roberts at the helm, Como recovered from a faltering start to the season to finish the campaign nine games unbeaten, securing automatic promotion to the top flight with a 1-1 draw with Cosenza on Friday.

Joining Fabregas as one of the club’s part-owners Thierry Henry was in attendance at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, with Leicester striker Jamie Vardy also watching on from the stands.
