EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Locomotive FC open up the weekend with a road trip to Loudoun United FC, available to watch on Friday, May 10 at 5 p.m. MT via ESPN+.

ALL-TIME SERIES

El Paso and Loudoun have only met twice, with El Paso coming out on top in both matches. The sides last met in 2023 at Southwest University Park, with Locomotive’s Chris Garcia netting the winner late in the 89′.

EL PASO LOCOMOTIVE FC

The match against the Switchbacks did see Head Coach and Technical Director Brian Clarhaut make some formation adjustments in an effort to search for solutions. Locomotive seemed to play more of a 4-4-2, with Bolu Akinyode moving up to midfield and Joaquin Rivas lining up alongside Justin Dhillon in front of goal.

The formation change saw El Paso become more threatening in transition, allowing Locomotive more opportunity to trigger counterattacks into wide areas to then feed into the box, demonstrated by the chances created in the second half.

Unfortunately, those chances were not capitalized on and a win continues to evade El Paso. Locomotive’s challenge this weekend is made more difficult with Head Coach and Technical Director Brian Clarhaut unavailable on the sidelines after picking up a red card suspension in Colorado Springs. Assistant coach Jon Burklo will step in his place on Friday, the second time he’s done so since joining the Locos.

LOUDOUN UNITED FC

Although winless in its last three league matches, their last Championship match against Detroit City FC did see them win the offensive battle. They were just unlucky to be facing up against Detroit’s Nate Steinwascher, who consistently shows why he’s considered one of the top goalkeeper’s in the league.
