New York Red Bulls II News Release
HARRISON, N.J. – New York Red Bulls II (4-1-3, 17 pts.) head to Florida for their first matchup of the season against Orlando City B at Osceola Heritage Park on Wednesday, May 8. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET with coverage available on MLSNEXTPro.com.
New York are coming off a 2-1 victory over Inter Miami CF II on Friday, May 3, where they extended their road unbeaten streak to five matches to begin the season. This is only the second-time in franchise history that Red Bulls II have gone unbeaten in their first five road matches to begin a season, which also happened in 2016.
Orlando sits in 10th place of the Eastern Conference standings and are coming off a 1-1 draw against Chattanooga FC. The Lions have posted a 2-2-3 record in their first seven matches of the season and have posted a 0-2-0 mark at home this year.
The last time these two sides faced off was on July 31, 2023, at MSU Soccer Park, where NYRB II won, 2-1, with the game-winning goal going to midfielder Ibrahim Kasule on a penalty kick. NYRB II and the Lions split the series between them last season with each grabbing a win at their respective home venues.
Kasule scored in both matches against Orlando last season and will be looking to score in a third-straight match against the opponent. Kasule opened the scoring in New York’s last match on Friday, May 3, recording his third MLS NEXT Pro goal of the season. The Ugandan midfielder has scored 19 career goals across all competitions for New York, which is tied for fourth in franchise history with Tom Barlow.
NYRB II have scored 16 goals this season, which ranks tied for second in MLS NEXT Pro this season and they have scored four in two career matches against Orlando City B.
Coverage for tomorrow’s match is available on MLSNEXTPro.com, NewYorkRedBulls.com, and the New York Red Bulls App.
