Chattanooga Red Wolves SC News Release
Chattanooga Red Wolves SC have officially announced that Guatemalan national team goalkeeper Ricardo Jerez will join the club’s technical staff as goalkeeper coach for both the men’s first team and the women’s USL W League Lady Red Wolves. Additionally, Jerez will also be rostered as a player with the club for the 2024 season and be available for all competitions.
Jérez made eight starts for the Red Wolves in 2023 and received two call ups to the Guatemalan national team to appear in the Concacaf Nations League in March and July. He has made appearances for his home country’s national team since 2006 where he debuted in a friendly against the United States’ national team. Throughout his international career, Jerez has played against some of soccer’s biggest stars including Messi.
Prior to signing with Chattanooga, Jérez played for first division CSD Municipal in Guatemala, with 85 appearances across his time with the club from 2022-23 and previously from 2007-08. He spent several seasons with Colombia’s Alianza Petrolera between 2013 and 2021, making 256 appearances and recording 80 clean sheets.
“Ricardo is a great addition to our staff,” said head coach Scott Mackenzie. “He obviously brings a wealth of experience at domestic and international level and he will bring that knowledge and experience into our club and add tremendous value. More importantly, he is a top person and a great example to others. I’m very excited to continue to work with him.”
The Chattanooga Red Wolves will play their first home match on Saturday, April 20th against Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC for $2 Beer Night followed by the first match of the League One Jägermeister Cup on Saturday, April 27th against One Knoxville SC. Single game tickets are on sale here and 2024 season tickets are available to purchase.
