PITTSBURGH – Senior midfielder Filip Mirkovic of the Pitt men’s soccer team has been invited to participate in the 2023 adidas MLS College Showcase in Phoenix, Arizona. Mirkovic is one of 44 invitees to the premier scouting event for MLS clubs.
Mirkovic joins Bertin Jacquesson, Jasper Löffelsend and Arturo Ordoñez as the only Panthers in program history to earn an invite to the prestigious scouting event.
The four-day event will give technical staffs from every MLS club an opportunity to scout top collegiate prospects in the nation ahead of MLS SuperDraft 2024 presented by adidas, which will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 19 and feature an expanded eligible player pool. The 2023 adidas MLS College Showcase is a closed-door scouting event officially sanctioned by the NCAA.
Mirkovic had another standout season for the Panthers in the midfield as he led the squad with nine assists to go along with 25 shots. His nine assists were the third most in the ACC and 15th most in the NCAA this season. The senior had the best game of his Pitt career in a 5-1 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson as he tied a program record with four assists including one on the game-winning goal.
The Manhattan, NY native concludes his impressive Pitt career as one of the best midfielders to do it as he helped lead the Panthers to an unprecedented two College Cups. For his career, he racked up nine goals, 28 assists and 46 points on 104 shots across 75 matches. His 28 assists are a program record for assists in a career while his .37 assists per game ranks fourth all-time and his .61 points per game is seventh best in program history.
The eligible player list for 2024 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas on Dec. 19 will be announced at a later date following the 2023 adidas MLS College Showcase.
