Ken Masuhr – University of Miami Athletics

Ken Masuhr was announced as the sixth head coach in program history Tuesday, Dec. 5, as made public by Vice President/Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich. Masuhr (pronounced Muh-suhr) comes to Coral Gables after spending nine seasons at Vanderbilt, the past six as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator.

“I am honored to begin the next chapter of my coaching journey at the University of Miami. The opportunity to contribute to the storied legacy of the Hurricanes is both thrilling and inspiring. During Masuhr’s tenure in Nashville on head coach Darren Ambrose’s staff, the Commodores captured five NCAA Tournament berths as well as an SEC regular season crown in 2018, an SEC East Division title in 2019 and an SEC Tournament championship in 2020. Vanderbilt defeated 16 ranked teams over that stretch after registering just eight wins over ranked teams in program history prior to Ambrose and Masuhr’s arrival in 2015.

Masuhr focused on the Commodores’ defensive unit and developed some of the stingiest back lines in the SEC while also tutoring players like Myra Konte, who became the first Vanderbilt player selected in the NWSL Draft in January 2021 when she was picked 30th overall by the North Carolina Courage. Masuhr helped the Commodores recruit an All-SEC Freshman honoree in each of his seasons in Nashville.
