Coffield Earns a Spot on College Soccer News and TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh women’s soccer’s own Ellie Coffield earns a spot on both the College Soccer News and TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week.

The Mars, PA native made an impressive impact this weekend – posting two game changing goals against Arkansas that helped propel the Panthers past the Razorbacks. Coffield posted the equalizer off of an indirect kick outside the box where she found an opening in the top left of the net on Friday night. With 90 seconds left on the clock, the junior secured the game winning goal – heading in the ball off of a corner kick from Sarah Schupansky to secure the Panthers a spot in the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen. In Sunday’s matchup against Memphis, Coffield played the full 90 minutes and posted two assists on Pitt’s three goals. The Panthers secured a 3-0 shutout victory against the Tigers – advancing to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history.

Fifth year Landy Mertz and sophomores Ellie Breech and Katie Zailski each earned TopDrawersSoccer Team of the Week honorable mentions for their indescribable effort in the historic weekend for Pitt.
