MADISON, Wis. – The No. 4 Wisconsin women’s soccer team will face No. 5 Texas in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The team will play at the Seminole Soccer Fields on the campus of Florida State on Nov. 17, at 1:00 p.m. (CT).
Here are five things to know:
1. KNOW THE OPPONENT: Texas claimed the title of Big Twelve Tournament Champions after defeating No. 6 BYU. The Longhorns have an overall record of 16-4-2.
Lexi Missimo leads the team in all scoring categories claiming 25 goals and 19 assists. The Longhorns average 3.09 goals per game and have a shots on goal percentage of .419.
2. NCAA TOURNAMENT: This is the ninth season under head coach Paula Wilkins (16 seasons at Wisconsin) that the Badgers have clinched a spot in the NCAA Tournament. The Badgers have advanced to the Sweet 16 in all of the last three trips to the NCAA Tournament (2021, 2019, and 2018).
3. RECAPPING THE WEEK: Wisconsin is coming off a first-round win against UW-Milwaukee at home on Friday, Nov. 10, 2-0.
Emma Jaskaniec and Maddie Ishaug scored in the second half of the game to keep the Badgers dancing.
