CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Five Atlantic Coast Conference teams earned spots in the 2023 NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament, headlined by Florida State and Clemson earning No. 1 seeds. The ACC is the only conference with multiple No. 1 seeds in this year’s Tournament.

The Seminoles and Tigers are joined by Notre Dame, North Carolina and Pitt. The NCAA Tournament gets underway on Friday, Nov. 10.

The Seminoles (16-0-1) begin their NCAA Tournament campaign as one of two unbeaten teams in the nation, joining Stanford, but carry the best winning percentage of .971. Last Sunday, FSU earned its fourth straight ACC title after fending off third-seeded Clemson, 2-1, as 2023 ACC Offensive Player of the Year Onyi Echegini scored both goals and earned Tournament MVP honors. Florida State makes its 24th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and looks to advance to the College Cup for the fourth straight season. The Seminoles will host Morehead State in the first round.

Clemson (15-3-3) also makes its 24th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, as the Tigers are coming off their first appearance in the ACC title match since 2002. Despite falling to third in the final ACC regular-season standings, Clemson posted a pair of victories in the Ally ACC Women’s Soccer Championship, headlined by a 3-2 win over second-seeded Notre Dame last Thursday in Cary, North Carolina. Clemson enters the NCAA Tournament with a 15-3-3 record, the third-most wins in program history and most since 2001. The Tigers will welcome Radford for their first-round match.

Notre Dame (11-3-4) earned a No. 3 seed and will host Valparaiso in its opening-round matchup. The Fighting Irish will make their 29th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and are coming off a national quarterfinal appearance a season ago. Notre Dame seeks its first appearance in the College Cup since 2010 when the Irish claimed the national title.

North Carolina (10-1-8) extended its streak as the only program to appear in all 42 NCAA Tournaments, as the Tar Heels suffered their first setback of the season in the first round of the Ally ACC Women’s Soccer Championship. Last season, UNC advanced to the national championship match following a 3-2 victory over Florida State in the semifinals, as the Tar Heels have appeared in four of the last five College Cups.
