Hokies fall 1-0 to No. 9 Clemson


BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech women’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to No. 9 Clemson on Sunday at Thompson Field. 

The Hokies’ record drops to 6-5-3 (2-3 ACC), as the Tigers climb to 10-1-3 (3-1-1 ACC).

How it Happened

Virginia Tech gave up the lone goal of the match inside the box during the 28th minute to Clemson’s Caroline Conti. 

The Hokies headed into halftime down by one, with both teams recording four shots on goal. 

Clemson outshot the Hokies 9-2 in the second half, resulting in the Hokies defeat at Thompson. 

Game Notes

  • Goalkeeper Alia Skinner tallied a season high eight saves. 
  • Anna Weir lead the Hokies in shots with two. 
  • The Hokies were challenged by a 17-6 shot deficit. 
  • Clemson’s Caroline Conti scored in the 28th minute.
