The 2023 US Open Cup has officially kicked off, with the top eight sides from MLS from 2022 entering the round of 32 on May 9th.
2022’s Cup Champions, Orlando City, have already been knocked out of the tournament by Charlotte FC, as have several other MLS teams, including the Philadelphia Union, Seattle Sounders, New England Revolution, St. Louis City, DC United, Atlanta United, and the San Jose Earthquakes as the tournament heads into the round of 16.
On the USL front, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds are the only lower-league team to pull off an upset over an MLS squad with a 1-0 win over the Revolution.
One USL side has made the round-of-16 appearance, with Birmingham Legion defeating Memphis 901 FC to advance to the next round.
Most US Open Cup matches will be shown on Bleacher Report Football’s YouTube Channel, the Bleacher Report app, CBS’ Golazo Network or the US Soccer’s Youtube Channel. Every game is free.
