May 8, 2023 – United Soccer League Championship (USL) – FC Tulsa News Release
TULSA – On Monday, FC Tulsa conducted a midseason move to bolster its defense and supply additional pace down the flanks by way of MLS loan. Tulsa has acquired former Charlotte FC defender and United States U-17 National Team man Adam Armour for the remainder of the 2023 season, pending USSF approval.
Armour etched his name into Charlotte FC history on March 13, 2022 by accounting for the club’s first ever goal in MLS competition. The North Carolina native totaled six appearances for Charlotte FC in 2022 before undergoing ACL reconstruction surgery that curtailed a promising top-flight season for the 20-year-old fullback.
“We are excited to bring another talented player like Adam into the group,” said FC Tulsa head coach Blair Gavin. “He will provide us with the ability to win 1v1 moments on both sides of the ball.”
In addition to his time in MLS, Armour was a standout for the United States U17 National Team from 2018-2019. The fullback capped 19 times for the States between U-17 World Cup Qualifying, International Friendlies, and the club’s first contest during the U-17 World Cup Group Stage vs. Senegal.
Armour’s upcoming Tulsa tenure will be the third USL Championship stint of his young career. He initially inked an Academy deal with North Carolina FC in 2019, then re-signed on another Academy deal to keep him with the club in 2020.
A year later, Armour signed with MLS’s Charlotte FC in June of 2021 and was loaned to Charlotte Independence a month later where he appeared 19 times in the regular season with four assists. The Independence finished sixth in the league, clinching a Playoffs spot for the second consecutive season.
“I’m very excited to get started in Tulsa,” said Armour. “I’m looking forward to building a bond with the guys and the club. I’m ready to get to work and help contribute to the club’s success.”
Armour will join the squad later this week and will be available for selection by Blair Gavin for Tulsa’s match at Last Vegas Lights on Saturday, May 13. The match is scheduled for a 9:30 p.m. CT kickoff.
