SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The NC State softball team dropped the series finale with Syracuse, 8-0, Saturday afternoon.
The Orange jumped out to an early lead after scoring two in the bottom of the first. A single to left by Jude Padilla brought two across the plate to give Syracuse the lead.
Syracuse hit back-to-back two-run homers in the bottom of the second to increase the lead to six. After a triple and a single in the bottom of the third, the Orange added two more runs to the board to take a 8-0 lead.
The Pack struggled to build momentum at the plate as only three got on base throughout the meeting.
To open the third inning, junior Gracie Roberts was hit by a pitch to lead off the Pack. Unfortunately the Orange’s defense was unbeatable as they grabbed three straight outs to end the Wolfpack’s chance of getting into scoring position.
The Pack had three enter the circle throughout the afternoon – freshman Madison Inscoe, redshirt-junior Aisha Weixlmann, and freshman Wynne Gore. All three recorded 1.1 innings in the circle and Gore picked up one strikeout in her time.
