Real Madrid ‘are HUGE admirers of Reece James and have put him top of a shortlist of potential right-backs to sign’, but face a mammoth task if they are to try and prise him away from Chelsea

  • James signed a new six-year deal at the club as recently as September last year
  • Madrid have had a disappointing season and are set to miss out on a LaLiga win
  • The full-back has become one of Chelsea’s most influential players recently

Real Madrid are understood to be big admirers of Chelsea’s Reece James, according to reports in Spain.

James has shone for Chelsea in recent months, proving to be of manager Graham Potter’s most prized assets as the Blues try and climb the Premier League table.

It’s understood that Madrid are keen on strengthening their right-back options in the summer, with James of interest to the Spanish club.

According to AS, James is top of the list of possible options highlighted by the current world champions.

But MailOnline sources have down played the possibility of James being prised away from Chelsea, especially so soon after signing a new contract.

James signed a new deal at Chelsea in September last year which ties him to the club until 2028, so would command an astronomical fee.
