The 20 most valuable players in the Premier League: Haaland, Saka, Rashford...

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is rated as the most valuable player in the Premier League, with the top 20 dominated by players from Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Haaland joined Man City from Borussia Dortmund in a relatively reasonable £51million last summer. He’s already worth several times that after less than a year of demonstrating his talents at his father’s old club.

The Norway international has scored 42 goals in his first 37 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side.

He signed a five-year deal and remains contracted at the Etihad until 2027, but that’s not stopped rumours of him moving to Real Madrid in the coming years.

There have been suggestions that his contract contains a release clause that would allow him to leave for the Spanish giants for an undisclosed fee.

“It is not true, he does not have a specific release clause, not for Real Madrid or any other side,” the City boss told reporters earlier in the season.

“I have the feeling that he is incredibly happy here.”

Valued at €170million, Haaland is streets ahead of the Premier League’s next MVPs. Arsenal’s rising star Bukayo Saka and City team-mate Phil Foden, 21 and 22 years old respectively, are the league’s next most-valuable players according to transfer specialists Transfermarkt.

Tottenham talisman Harry Kane, 29, is the only other played valued at over €100million. The striker, who has scored 204 Premier League goals for his boyhood club, is approaching the final year of his contract with Spurs. Manchester City failed to land his signature after seeing a bid knocked back in 2021, while Manchester United have increasingly been mooted as a potential destination in the summer.

The rest of the top 20 most valuable players are dominated by players from the traditional ‘Big Six’ with the only exception being West Ham captain Declan Rice. The 24-year-old England international has been strongly linked with a number of clubs, including Arsenal.

Other names that catch the eye are Cody Gakpo, who is valued higher than the £35million Liverpool spent on him in January, while Chelsea duo Wesley Fofana and Mykhailo Mudryk are valued at less than they were signed for earlier this season.
