‘Apple of Klopp’s eye’ makes Liverpool ‘first choice’ amid reports of triple transfer

Jude Bellingham and Moukoko

Jude Bellingham has reportedly made Liverpool his first-choice destination should he leave Borussia Dortmund this summer amid reports the Reds are getting their transfer business done early.

Dortmund have opened talks with Bellingham over a new deal and the 19-year-old could reportedly decide to stay with the Bundesliga side, who will demand over £130m should any club wish to steal him away.

Liverpool are said to be prepared to match that fee but are aware that Champions League qualification could be crucial in sealing his transfer.

But sources have told Football Insider that Bellingham’s preference would be to join Liverpool if he does move this summer.

Bellingham is still held in the highest regard by Klopp according to Times journalist Paul Joyce, who wrote: ‘Borussia Dortmund’s teenage tyro remains the apple of Klopp’s eye and the Liverpool manager will believe that with the 19-year-old on board, what has appeared at times as a chasm would narrow overnight.

‘He considers Bellingham a transformative figure and that is a vision that Klopp would be keen to share with the England midfielder.’

Spanish publication Nacional claimed on Friday that Klopp is looking for a ‘double robbery’ from under the noses of Real Madrid with deals not only for Bellingham but also RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol.

They describe a deal for Bellingham – who has been linked with Liverpool for a long time – as ‘in the bag’ after the England international ‘already decided to leave Germany next summer’.

Liverpool ‘also wants to sign’ Real Madrid target Gvardiol and the Reds are understood to be ‘one of the favorites’ for the Croatian centre-back and the Premier League side are ready to ‘take another of Florentino Pérez’s wishes’.

Despite knocking Liverpool out of the Champions League 6-2 on aggregate this week, Nacional adds that it is Real Madrid who could be ‘the one who could receive a sporting humiliation’ in the transfer market.

And another Spanish publication, Fichajes, insists that Liverpool are also ‘close to closing the signing of’ Ryan Gravenberch from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
