Southampton vs Tottenham - Premier League: TV channel, team news, lineups & prediction

Tottenham will continue their hunt to secure a place in next season’s Champions League when they travel to the Premier League’s bottom side Southampton on Saturday.

The Saints sit in 20th following a draw with Manchester United and a 2-0 home loss to Brentford. They can escape the relegation zone with a win if other results go their way.

Spurs, meanwhile, currently sit fourth but face competition from Liverpool, while Newcastle also have two games in hand. After FA Cup and Champions League exits, Antonio Conte’s side returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest.

Southampton team news

Kyle Walker-Peters will not face his former club unless he makes a swift recovery from a hamstring injury. Southampton will also be without Valentino Livramento and Juan Larios, while Arsenal loanee Ainsley Maitland-Niles is still struggling with a knock.

Manager Ruben Selles could start with James Bree and Theo Walcott out wide to try to get an all-important victory to boost morale.

Southampton predicted lineup (4-2-3-1): Bazunu; Bree, Bednarek, Bella-Kotchap, Perraud; Ward-Prowse, Lavia; Walcott, Alcaraz, Sulemana; Onuachu.

Tottenham team news

Four players have been out for some time for Spurs and they remain so here. Hugo Lloris, Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur and Ryan Sessegnon are absent, while they could also be without Emerson Royal at full-back as he has a knock.

Pedro Porro will likely keep his place in the team, while Richarlison could do the same after being given a chance by Antonio Conte following their recent war of words.

Tottenham predicted lineup (3-4-3): Forster; Romero, Dier, Lenglet; Porro, Hojbjerg, Skipp, Davies; Richarlison, Kane, Son.

Neither set of fans have been particularly enjoying their season so far and neither have been looking forward to their games. Southampton are in desperate need of points right now and have to approach every home game with the intention of winning.

Spurs have not been particularly prolific in games like this lately and Selles has got his team looking a lot more defensively sound than they were under Nathan Jones. Despite that, Tottenham should have enough to grab the win here.

Prediction: Southampton 0-1 Tottenham
