San Antonio FC Adds Defender Zico Bailey to 25-Day Contract

San Antonio FC Brings Back Cristian Parano for 2023 Season

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC has signed defender Zico Bailey to a 25-day contract, pending league and federation approval. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We are pleased to welcome Zico to the team,” said head coach Alen Marcina. “He possesses a versatile skillset that allows him to perform and excel in several different positions. Zico demonstrates a growth mindset, which will be essential to learning and adapting to our team identity in a very short period. This signing serves as another great example of the importance of short-term contracts.”


Bailey comes to San Antonio after spending the last three seasons with FC Cincinnati, playing with the first team as well as the club’s MLS Next Pro side FC Cincinnati 2.

In MLS play, Bailey boasts 13 starts and 19 appearances, racking up over 1,000 minutes played with a goal and two assists. Last season in MLS Next Pro play, Bailey appeared in 17 matches, 16 starts, with 1,410 minutes played. The Cal State Fullerton product assisted twice and completed 84.5 percent of his passes in Next Pro play.

Prior to joining Cincinnati, Bailey spent time with Swedish top-tier side Kalmar FF as well as Danish second-division club HC Helsingør. Collegiately, Bailey scored once and assisted twice in 21 appearances with the Titans, earning a spot on the Big West Conference All-Freshman Team.

SAFC is next in action on Sunday in a road tilt against Loudoun United FC. Kickoff from Segra Field is set for 3:00 p.m. CT, and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
