Gravenberch to join in summer

Club want to sign Dutch midfielder in summer

In an apparent slip of the tongue, former Liverpool star, Jose Enrique, has suggested that the Reds have already done a deal with one of his friends who plies his trade for Bayern Munich.

It seems fairly clear after the Reds were knocked out of the Champions League at Real Madrid that Jurgen Klopp needs to strengthen the side in key areas.

The European exit means that Liverpool will end the 2022/23 campaign without any silverware, which for a team that were recent Premier League and Champions League winners themselves isn’t good enough.

Quite how much the German will have to spend in the summer window isn’t known at this stage, though if the team are to be improved, it’s a safe bet that such talent won’t come cheap.

Intriguingly, Enrique named one player who, he claimed, Liverpool have already done a deal for.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, a conversation detailed by The Boot Room, the Spaniard named Bayern’s Ryan Gravenberch as the player that will ply his trade at Anfield next season.

“This player is ours amigo, Gravenberch,” he said.

“[…] Amigo, it’s the same agent as me! Team Raiola, amigo we had a meeting not long ago in London, this is our player.”

It prompted a quick riposte from his co-host, who said: “Be careful, you’re on live.”

If Enrique has let the cat out of the bag, it could cause huge problems for both Liverpool and Bayern.

Whilst it could be expected that the groundwork for summer deals is being done in the lead up to the window, announcing a deal before the window is actually open isn’t good form.
