Besiktas to send Dele Alli back to Everton after coach ‘gives up hope’ and ‘banishes’ 26-year-old

Dele Alli has struggled to turn his career around in Turkey with his disappointing spell with Besiktas reportedly expected to end this summer.

The 26-year-old joined Everton on a permanent basis last January after falling out of favour at Tottenham.

His career has fallen off a cliff after establishing himself as one of the best young players in world football in north London.

Dele was an integral part of the English national team once upon a time and played five of their seven games at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

He has not played for the Three Lions since 2019, however, and it is extremely unlikely he will play for his country again.

Dele failed to find his feet at Goodison Park after joining on an initial free transfer.

The signing could cost Everton around £34million if the player meets performance and appearance-related clauses.

After a difficult half-season with the Toffees, Dele was told to find a new club and ended up signing for Turkish giants Besiktas on a season-long loan.

Two goals in 13 Super Lig appearances is not the best return for the England midfielder – who, in December, was jeered off during a Turkish Cup match against lower-league side Sanliurfaspor after being taken off in the 29th minute.

It is a shame to see a once great player with his whole career ahead of him now unlikely to play in the Premier League again right as he enters his prime years.

A lot of fans probably expected to see Dele return to Everton at the end of the season, and this looks like it definitely will be the case.

According to The Athletic, Besiktas are not interested in taking up the option to sign Dele on a permanent basis.

The Turkish side are able to sign the 26-year-old for a measly £8m, but clearly do not think he is worth that. There is no obligation to buy included in Besiktas’ agreement with Everton.

The report claims that Dele ‘may still be able to force his way back’ into the Besiktas team after falling out of favour under head coach Senol Gunes.

This is not the case, however, according to Turkish outlet Takvim.

Gunes has apparently decided that Dele has played his last game for Besiktas.

He ‘will no longer be in the squad’ this campaign after the head coach ‘gave up all hope’ on the player.

It is said that Dele joined Besiktas with ‘great hopes’ but has failed to impress and will watch the remaining matches of the season ‘from the stands’.
