Ian Wright has suggested that Arsenal missing out on Mykhailo Mudryk in January could have been a blessing in disguise for the Gunners.
Arsenal were long-term admirers of the Ukrainian winger, but they missed out on him in the January window to Chelsea.
Graham Potter’s side snatched him up for a reported £89million fee and Arsenal were forced to look elsewhere.
In the end, Arsenal managed to secure a deal for Brighton winger Leandro Trossard and they haven’t looked back since.
The winger has already assisted five goals and scored himself in just nine league appearances for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Wright has been pleased with the January addition and he has suggested that Mudryk wouldn’t have had the same impact at Arsenal.
“I don’t care what anyone says, Mudryk, and we’ve seen up to this point, he wouldn’t have done what Trossard has done what Trossard has been doing up to this point,” the pundit explained on the Wrighty’s House Podcast.
“Mudryk, for his own sake, I do feel sorry for him because I don’t know if there’s anyone in the history of football whose had to have a transfer of that amount of money with so much politicalness around him. It’s almost unfair.”
Trossard has almost instantly adapted to the way Arsenal play and he could have a vital role to play in the title race.
The winger was on top form against Fulham as he provided three assists during Arsenal’s 3-0 triumph against Fulham.
Arteta himself lauded Trossard for his impact against Fulham and how well he has settled in so far.
“He got three assists and could have scored two. I think he was really impressive,” Arteta told Sky Sports.
“Not only that, he had an injury three days ago which could have taken a week, or another 10 days, but he was really willing to come back early and the doctors and medical staff did a lot of good work to get that.
“It makes a big difference in the team. We needed him today and his contribution was superb.”
“It’s football intelligence,” added Arteta. “He’s really clever to understand straight away what we want, what’s required. He’s executed it really well.”
Arsenal have also been boosted by the returning Gabriel Jesus and they are in a strong position to go for the Premier League title.
