Spurs one of nine Premier League clubs interested in midfielder who ‘dreams’ of Arsenal transfer

Reported Spurs target Gabri Veiga celebrates his goal

Man Utd, Arsenal and Spurs are all interested in signing highly-rated Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga, according to reports.

Veiga has impressed in La Liga this season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 24 appearances.

He is attracting interest from a host of European clubs and reportedly has a €40million release clause, which is a brilliant fee in this day and age.

A report from 90min mentions eight Premier League sides that are keen on signing Veiga.

Man Utd, Brentford, Brighton and Newcastle United have all ‘watched’ the Spanish midfielder in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Man City have already had scouts watch the 20-year-old this season.

However, in a blow to all eight English sides, the report claims that Veiga is ‘likely’ to remain in Spain, with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid all keen.

His €40m buyout clause makes him a very desirable player and should he depart Celta Vigo for that price, it would be a club record, eclipsing the €20m they received for Stanislav Lobotka from Napoli in 2020.

AS journalist Manu Sainz recently added Liverpool to the mix, claiming that Jurgen Klopp’s side have joined the race to sign Veiga.

The Reds are expected to sign at least two new midfielders in the summer transfer window with Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham their current number-one target.

Sainz reckons, however, that Veiga ‘dreams’ of a move to Premier League leaders Arsenal, as per Mundo Deportivo.

The Gunners are apparently the player’s favourite club outside of Spain, which is bad news for Tottenham in particular.

A report by AS claims that Veiga would be ‘the bargain of the summer’ as there are doubts that Celta are looking to increase the young midfielder’s release clause.

It promises to be a hectic summer transfer window full of midfielders on the move.

Veiga might ‘dream’ of Arsenal, but it is unclear whether or not they will invest in a player in his position.

Mikel Arteta is expected to sign a new midfielder in the summer, though it is expected to be a more defensive player like Moises Caicedo or Declan Rice.

Liverpool, on the other hand, need any type of midfielder they can get their hands on.
