Antony, Sabitzer & Lindelof updates ahead of Real Betis clash

Manchester United have confirmed that Marcel Sabitzer and Victor Lindelof have returned to first-team training, but Antony was absent from Wednesday morning’s session at Carrington.

The Red Devils are set to face off against Real Betis in the second leg of their Europa League round of 16 tie at Estadio Benito Villamarin, and take a 4-1 advantage to Seville after goals from Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Wout Weghorst and Antony at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag may exploit the scoreline to drop some of his regular starters to the bench, but supporters face an anxious wait to find out if Antony will be included in the travelling party to Spain.

The Brazilian did not take part in training although no reason has been given for his absence.

In better news, United confirmed in a statement that Sabitzer and Lindelof are back in training: “Marcel Sabitzer was part of the group, after his recent lay-off, which is great news considering Casemiro is set to begin a domestic four-game ban at the weekend, when Fulham provide the opposition in the Emirates FA Cup quarter-final.

“Victor Lindelof, who was ill at the weekend, joined the squad in the chilly conditions while Anthony Martial looks to be continuing his progress in a bid to return to action for the first time since the Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg victory over Nottingham Forest.”

Alejandro Garnacho, Donny van de Beek, and Christian Eriksen are all injured and are not available for the game against Betis.
