The Story:
The Lions return to Exploria Stadium with all to play for on Wednesday night after battling to a scoreless draw last Tuesday in Monterrey.
A win at home against Tigres would see City advance to the Quarterfinals of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League where they would face the winner of Pachuca of Liga MX or Futbol Club Motagua out of Honduras.
Goalkeeper Pedro Gallese enters Wednesday’s fixture after a career performance at Estadio Universitario, tallying eight saves and earning Best XI for the first leg of the Round of 16, along with Player of the Match honors.
Quote of the Week:
“As you know this is still a young team, but with very passionate supporters and the culture they have developed is very good. We came in to be the protagonists of MLS these last three years, we already won a championship and to enter a competition for the first time against Tigres we also had to install a good plan. Tigres is going to find a team with a lot of courage, with passionate fans and surely we’ll do everything we can to go through to the next round because we’re optimistic and we know we can do this.”
– Head Coach Oscar Pareja
