Outlaws Lose in Overtime to the Flash

MESQUITE, Texas – Mesquite Outlaws win 10-8 against the Dallas Sidekicks in Mesquite, Texas at Mesquite Arena. Outlaws have won all six matches against the Sidekicks this season, Sidekicks still searching for their first win.


Luiz Morales started the scoring off, with a goal for the Outlaws, in the fifth minute of the first quarter. Morales, then scored again in the 10th minute, putting the Outlaws up by two. Good things always come in threes for the Outlaws, Axel Chakounte scoring in the 13th minute, Outlaws up 3-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Sidekicks finally score in fifth minute of the second quarter, with a powerplay goal from Blas Perez, after Emmanuel Aguirre for the Outlaws received a blue card in the fifth minute for tripping. Stephen Gonzales scores for the Outlaws with 16 seconds left in the second quarter. Outlaws up at half 4-1.

In the third quarter, Brenden Lee scored in the second minute with an assist from Axel Chakounte. Ahmed Zaky scored 30 seconds later for the Sidekicks. Jamie Lovegrove scored a third goal for the Sidekicks in the third minute. Blas Perez scored a powerplay goal for the Sidekicks in the fifth minute, after a blue card was issued to David Ortiz for unsportsmanlike content. VcMore Eligwe scored a shorthanded goal for the Sidekicks, tying the game 5-5. Jorge DeLeon scored a powerplay goal in the 12th minute after Kristian Quintana received a blue card for tripping. Odaine Sinclair scored quickly again for the Outlaws 16 seconds later. Lovegrove scored his second goal for the Sidekicks, Outlaws up 7-6 at the end of the third quarter. Albert Rodriguez tied the game for the Sidekicks, with a powerplay goal in the fourth minute of the fourth quarter, after DeLeon was given a blue for contact above the shoulder. David Ortiz scored for the Outlaws in the fifth minute, but was quickly countered by Flavio Guzman, 40 seconds later, tying the score at 8-8. Pablo Da Silva scored for the Outlaws in the 12th minute. A final dagger was given to the Outlaws when Ortiz scored an empty netter goal with less than a minute left in the game. Outlaws winning 10-8.

Ortiz scored two goals, one being the game winner for the Outlaws. The Outlaws are now 11-5-2, and the Sidekicks are now 0-15-3.

The next games for the Outlaws are Saturday, March 18th, and Sunday March 19th, against the Tacoma Stars at the Accesso ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington….
