Recent reports have claimed that Chelsea are not “seriously considering” signing Neymar from PSG at this stage despite the recent links.

Neymar has been ruled out of the rest of the season with an ankle injury and his long-term future in France is now in doubt.

The Brazilian superstar had been linked with a move to the Premier League last summer, but nothing materialised in the end.

Chelsea have been one of the clubs keeping tabs on Neymar, but a fresh update from Florian Plettenberg has revealed that he is not a player of interest right now.

“He [Neymar] was linked to Chelsea based on a reported conversation between Boehly & Al-Khelaifi,” the journalist explained on Twitter.

“But understand that Chelsea is not seriously considering to sign him in summer. Neymar and Chelsea is not hot at this stage.”

The PSG superstar has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, although David Ornstein recently claimed that the player has no desire to leave PSG.

“Neymar wants to finish his career at PSG,” explained Ornstein. “31yo contracted to 2027 + as things stand does not intend to play for another club.

“[He’s] often [been] linked with moves but plans to stay & given £200m move in 2017, it would take a huge investment to change that.”

Prior to his latest injury, Neymar had been one of the most in from players in Europe alongside Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.

In the league alone this season, Neymar has scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists. With his contract set to run until 2027, he could be sticking around in Paris after all.

There’s no doubt that Neymar is one of the best players in the world, but injuries have often plagued him since moving to PSG in 2017.

Across the six seasons he has spent in France, Neymar has only averaged 18.6 appearances per season in the league.

Chelsea are expected to add to their forward options in the summer as they have struggled to regularly hit the back of the net this season.

Graham Potter’s side have scored just 27 league goals this season, which is the fewest of any side in the top half of the table.a

Despite their lack of firepower, Potter has managed to turn things around in the last couple of weeks as his side have won their last three matches.

The recent run of results has somewhat lifted the pressure on the Chelsea boss although they are still 11 points adrift of a top four spot.
