Terps Top Clemson in Home Spring Opener

COLLEGE PARK, Md. –– The Maryland men’s soccer team topped Clemson, 2-1, in a Spring Soccer Cup match at Ludwig Field Sunday afternoon.

The Terps got second half goals from freshman Tyler Prebenda and Luca Costabile to overcome a 1-0 halftime deficit. The Tigers tallied through Titus Sandy in the 13th minute lead at the half.

Prebenda, an early enrollee, scored from close range off an Albi Ndrenika cross. Costabile’s goal was the result of a pretty full field move that the Danish left back started in the Terps’ half. Colin Griffith slipped the freshman through and Costabile finished deftly with his right foot from 10 yards out.
