RALEIGH – The Wolfpack softball team dropped the last two games of the series with Notre Dame Saturday afternoon.

The Pack advance to 7-17 on the season and 1-5 in ACC play.

NC State 2, Notre Dame 10 (6 inn.)

With bases loaded and one out, Weixlmann picked up her first strikeout of the day and second out of the inning. Despite bases being loaded, she struck out the next batter to end the inning. She threw 39 pitches in the top of the first to start the afternoon.

Graduate Rebecca Murray started the Pack’s offensive efforts off with a single up the middle. She took second after freshman Nadia Sykes lined out to shortstop and was thrown out at first. Fellow freshman Amanda Hasler stepped into the box with two outs and one on base, but was unable to bring Murray home after being thrown out at first. The Fighting Irish continued to hold a 2-0 lead to end the first inning.

The Irish started the second inning with a walk and then Carlli Kloss reached on an error. After Leea Hanks singled up the middle and brought in one RBI, the Pack brought in a pitching change. Freshman Rylee Wyman entered the circle with one on and on the second pitch thrown, the Fighting Irish homered to take a 5-0 lead. Notre Dame finished the top half of the second with a 6-0 lead over the Pack, who was eager to get on the board.
