Is Martin Odegaard fit? Arsenal injury and suspension news vs Fulham

Arsenal had to do without Martin Odegaard in their Europa League clash with Sporting CP and failed to claim victory, drawing 2-2.

The midfielder has been ever-present for his club this season but missed the first leg of the Europa League tie through illness, and he’s not the only Gunner not in the best shape heading into their game with Fulham on Sunday.

Here’s Arsenal’s full team news for the match.

While there are a number of fitness issues, Arsenal won’t be missing anyone through suspension for their clash with fellow London side Fulham.

They also don’t have any players close to picking one up for accumulating too many yellow cards, meaning only injuries and red cards can rule members of the squad out of the game against Crystal Palace next weekend.

To make matters better for Mikel Arteta, Fulham will be missing star midfielder Joao Palhinha through suspension.

Odegaard isn’t the only Arsenal player to pick up a bug in the past week with Kieran Tierney also falling victim to it, missing the match in midweek against Sporting CP as a result.

Illness isn’t the club’s only concern at the moment either with Leandro Trossard and Eddie Nketiah currently nursing minor injuries and Gabriel Jesus not yet fully fit having been ruled out since the World Cup with ligament damage.

Mohamed Elneny is the only player that will definitely be unavailable against Fulham. The midfielder picked up a knee issue in training early in January and will be out for an extended period of time, the Premier League leaders have confirmed.

Of all of the above doubts, Odegaard has been the most important to Arsenal this season and the one they’ll want back in the team most.

He wasn’t too far off being fit enough to play against Sporting CP, travelling to Lisbon with the squad before his condition worsened, but Arteta isn’t sure if the Norwegian will be available for the short trip to Craven Cottage or not.

“I hope so,” he said the day before the game when asked if the captain would return. “Martin was feeling better, then became a little worse so we’ll see after training today.”

“We will know more this afternoon, we haven’t trained yet. We have a few players in contention. This afternoon, hopefully, we’ll have a clear picture of who is available and who is not.”
