Man Utd told they are signing a ‘killer’ who can be ‘the most unpleasant person’ at times

Man Utd target Marcel Sabitzer during a match

Austrian midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has landed in Manchester ahead of his loan move from Bayern Munich to Man Utd.

Sabitzer is set to join the Red Devils on loan until the end of the season with no option to buy included.

Man Utd have been linked with several midfield players today after it was confirmed that Christian Eriksen will miss a few months of action after sustaining an injury in the 3-1 win over Reading on Saturday.

Sabitzer quickly emerged as the club’s top target despite reportedly being offered the chance to sign Lyon’s Houssem Aouar.

Man Utd were believed to be keen on signing Sabitzer’s Bayern Munich teammate Ryan Gravenberch, who was managed by Erik ten Hag at Ajax.

Sabitzer is their man, however, to fill the hole left by Eriksen.

The 28-year-old arrived at Carrington on Tuesday evening to undergo his medical tests and sign his Man Utd contract.

Tweeting at 21:22, German journalist Florian Plettenberg said that the medical is currently taking place before giving us an insight on the player from his agent.

Roger Wittmann, Sabitzer’s agent, has said his client is “the most unpleasant person to be around when he’s not playing”, which probably shows why a move to Man Utd was so easy to come to fruition.

He has played 23 times across all competitions this season, though only 11 of those have come as a starter.

Wittmann said, as reported by Plettenberg: “The most unpleasant person to be around when he’s not playing. He hates it when he loses. That’s the bottom line.

“Character-wise, the kid is a killer. That’s what players who always want to win look like.”

Sabitzer will compete for a starting spot with Fred, as Eriksen, Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay are currently out injured.

McTominay’s issue is thought to be short-term, though Eriksen’s return date is expected to be no earlier than late April, and Van de Beek is out until the end of 2022-23.

So with Ten Hag’s midfield options pretty scarce, Sabitzer will probably be a decent person to be around once his move to Man Utd becomes official.
