After a crazy and eventful 31 days, the winter transfer window finally came to an end. The current transfer window has generated more activity than its predecessors. The biggest reason for this has been the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The biggest international football tournament held every four years took place in winter this time and finished only 13 days before the transfer window opened.

Thai meant that several players who shone for their teams were in high demand as clubs looked to eke out top money to add these players. But, of course, there were other reasons for this crazy spending, too, such as the incredible transfer strategy of Chelsea, which has now seen them splurge over €300 million in the summer and more than €200 million in the winter transfer window.

This was why we saw so many top players change clubs in January, a sight rarely seen in the winter transfer window.

While he does have immense talent, he will find himself well down the pecking order at the club for now. However, things could change after the summer if he manages to keep up the level of his performance.

Malo Gusto: Lyon to Chelsea €35 million

Malo Gusto would have been the most sought-after signing in the winter transfer window at any other club in the world. But such has been Chelsea’s spend that his transfer has not garnered so much attention. One of the best young right-backs in the world, Malo Gusto, developed his skills at the famed youth academy of Lyon.

And for the last year and a half, Malo Gusto has been the subject of interest from several clubs. However, in the end, Chelsea won the race for him. It remains to be seen whether he can start hitting the ground at the club from the start.

Jorginho: Chelsea to Arsenal €13 million

Another transfer that no one saw coming, and with good reason. Throughout the entire transfer window, league leaders Arsenal were chasing the Ecuadorian star Moises Caicedo. However, they failed to reach a deal…
