Man Utd learn huge asking price for striker as ex-player warns them against signing Arsenal target

Man Utd-linked Rice

Man Utd have been told why they should not splash out to sign West Ham star Declan Rice in the summer amid interest from the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.

Rice has been regularly linked with Man Utd over the past couple of years and he is expected to leave West Ham in the summer.

The Englishman is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and recent reports have indicated that he could cost around £80m.

The midfielder would arguably improve any of England’s top clubs. Chelsea have long held an interest in him and a move to Stamford Bridge would make sense as he previously played for them at youth level.

But Arsenal have emerged as the new frontrunner to sign Rice with him being identified as their preferred target ahead of the summer.

United brought in Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the summer and both players have been in great form this campaign.

Ex-player Louis Saha does not think Rice would be an improvement on Casemiro.

“It’s difficult because I love what I’ve seen of Declan, especially his quality and physicality,” Saha told Betfred.

“I’m not saying he hasn’t proven it at the top level but I’m sorry, he’s playing for a decent club but he’s never had the experience of playing for a massive club such as Real Madrid, which Casemiro has.

“I think Declan is a great player, but in his position you need to have the expertise of finding the forward players at the right moments and being a game changer.

“You saw it when Fabinho came into Liverpool, he changed them into a different team. At this moment in time, I can’t see anybody getting anywhere near Casemiro.”

The Red Devils are expected to instead prioritise a marquee striker signing in the summer, with Harry Kane being mentioned as a potential addition.

They are also being linked with Napoli forward Victor Osimhen. He has scored 13 goals in 15 Serie A games this season.

Gianluca Di Marzio thinks he will be “let go” if Napoli win the Serie A title this term. He has also predicted that he could cost  “at least €120m”.

“I think that Victor Osimhen could be a possible target in the summer also because Man United wanted him last summer,” Di Marzio told soccernews.nl.

“He has incredible skills and if Napoli wins the Serie A I think they will let him go.

“I think that Man United has to pay at least €120 million for him but the Premier League clubs are also willing to do that, so it could definitely happen.

“Manchester United wants him but…
