The 22-year-old will give manager Vincent Kompany another option up front, and looks set to battle with experienced duo Jay Rodriguez and Ashley Barnes for a starting berth.

Kompany previously managed Anderlecht, and has made the most of his Belgian links by signing a number of players from the nation’s Pro League during his first six months at Burnley.

Anass Zaroury, Benson Manuel Hedilazio, Josh Cullen, Vitinho and Samuel Bastien all came over from Belgium last summer, while Ameen Al-Dakhil arrived at Turf Moor earlier this month.

Foster is now set to be tasked with aiding Burnley’s promotion push, with the Clarets well-placed to make an immediate return to the top-flight after being relegated last term.

Kompany’s men have opened up a five-point lead at the top of the table, and have an 18-point lead over third-placed Watford.

They face Ipswich in the FA Cup on Saturday, which Foster could be available for if Burnley get the paperwork done in time.

Burnley then return to East Anglia the following week when they take on promotion-chasing Norwich at Carrow Road.
